After stark and plain pronunciations of terrible judgments to come, Amos ends with a beautiful promise of abundant blessing. How are we to understand this blessing? Is it literal, or did it point to a greater fulfillment in our day? And how does this tension of judgment and blessing manifest in our day and age after the first advent of Christ? These questions and more are answered as we come to the final chapter of the book of Amos.

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD,
“when the plowman shall overtake the reaper
and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;
the mountains shall drip sweet wine,
and all the hills shall flow with it.” (Amos 9;13)
